Hey there, I’m Angela Brown, and this is Ask a House Cleaner. This is a show where you get to ask a house cleaning question, and I get to help you find an answer. You can find this and 400 other answered questions in this series on our YouTube channel.
Angela Brown’s Top 10 Podcasts
It is time for another Angela Brown’s top 10 podcast list for 2020. These are the podcasts that I listen to when I’m on the road, out in my yard, working, or when I’m out jogging in the morning.
During 2020, there was a huge ginormous pandemic and the focus was not so much on how to clean as it was on how to keep your business afloat and the behind the scenes of the bigger picture of how to pivot and stay relevant.
So, the podcasts themselves shifted a little bit. Therefore, these are in no particular order, but these are the top 10 podcasts I’ve been listening to this year and the podcasts that I recommend for you as well.
My First Podcast is Ask a House Cleaner
The first and in no particular order, is Ask a House Cleaner. This is a podcast that is very near and dear to my heart. It is the podcast you’re listening to right now. The reason this is near and dear to me is that I have a team of people and we don’t show up and wing it, or just phone it in.
We show up every single day, read your comments and then we plan. We bring to you our very best information. And during the year 2020, we will bring to you 260 episodes on how to plan and build your cleaning business.
So I’m very proud of the savvy cleaner team and I’m proud that for the second year in a row, we have made it to our own top 10 list. This is because I am brutal when it comes to cutting things off the list and saying, “Nope, that didn’t make the cut.”
Podcast 2: The Ultimate Entrepreneur
The second on my list, The Ultimate Entrepreneur With Jay Abraham. Now, as long as I’ve been in business, probably the last three decades, I’ve been a follower of Jay Abraham. He is a brilliant mind.
He’s probably one of the highest-paid consultants in the world. According to Forbes Success and Ink magazine, he generated over $21.7 billion for his clients. And so when he comes on a podcast and he strategizes and shares with you techniques on how to pivot, how to stay relevant, how to motivate your team, how to change and how to shift through global pandemics like this, it is absolutely fascinating. He is one of the most brilliant minds I’ve ever studied.
Podcast 3: Youpreneur
Speaking of entrepreneurs, there’s Chris Ducker with Youpreneur. Now he is a British mastermind and he has an amazing array of different tips and techniques on how to brand yourself. He talks about how to become an iconic figure in your own arena. And I love this because as house cleaners, that’s what we are.
We go to customers and we become the iconic figure, the voice of reason, the expert and the voice of authority to our customers.
I absolutely love this concept, but he has also spent an enormous amount of time talking about marketing yourself and how to stay relevant. He also talks about how to view yourself and some of the tips and strategies you can use as an individual so that your business has a bigger impact.
Podcast 4: the Capability Amplifier
The next podcast on our list is the Capability Amplifier. This is by Mike Koenigs from Super Being Accelerator and Dan Sullivan with Strategic Coach. Both of these men are legends in the industry, and they have spent years working with entrepreneurs with strategy, dissecting businesses and breaking stuff down.
Then they’re moving entrepreneurs forward through their journey, to what they know, what they’re practicing, and what the results are. And I love this podcast for the fact that during COVID-19, they’ve been focusing on the behind the scenes of the mental attitude of the entrepreneur.
So it is a fascinating podcast and I love the mind-bending concepts that they approach and the way that they think. It’s so revolutionary and different, that I like to hear them and I go, “That’s interesting. I never thought about that way before. I wonder if I were to apply that, how that applies to me and how I would tweak that to make it my own.”
Podcast 5: Marketing School Podcast
Now, speaking about marketing, there is a marketing school podcast with Neil Patel and Eric Siu. And it is way above my level, but I love listening to it because they always spin ideas about marketing things like Google Analytics.
They talk about what you need to be doing behind the scenes in order for your business to grow. Now, one of the things I can’t get away from is that as house cleaners, while we would love to run flyers forever.
However, 97% of people who make a buying decision, do some research first online. And so, if you’re not online, they’re not going to find you. They can’t do research if they don’t know who you are. And so, you have to be able to put your business online and then people have to be able to find you.
So, when I hear this podcast, sometimes my wheels are spinning and I’m like, I don’t know how to do that, but that sounds important. A lot of times they will introduce pieces of software instead of hiring a marketing expert to go in. So, when I check out that software, it’s usually revolutionary and exciting.
Podcast 6: Social Media Marketing Podcast
Then there is a Social Media Marketing podcast with Michael Stelzner. I’ve been listening to this podcast for a couple of years because I am not a champ when it comes to social media. But I love the fact that he delves into all the different social media and he brings experts on the show where he interviews them.
So he talks about how to ace Instagram marketing, how Instagram marketing has changed and how to get the most out of it. He talks about Facebook’s lives and how to grow your business with Facebook lives. He talks about Facebook itself and some of the behind the scenes things that are set up that maybe you didn’t even know existed.
So he dives deep into all these different elements of social media marketing so that you can, in fact, grow your business on a granular level, from the privacy of your own home, in your free time, with nothing more than a computer or a tablet.
Podcast 7: Badass Business Owners
Now, speaking of growing your business, there is Badass Business Owners with Tammy Adams. I love this podcast because she’s very down to earth and she’s a no BS marketer. So, she’s going to tell you like it is, like, “Hey, cut out doing this because it’s wasting your time. You’re losing money on doing it. It’s not going to help your business.”
She’s very cut and dry in her approach, and she talks about knowing your numbers and why you go after a particular type of customer and how that can cost you money instead of earning you money.
She talks about leaving money on the table, where you fail to recognize that there are particular people that need your service. I love her approach. It is so raw and full of enthusiasm that when she says it, you’re like, “Absolutely what she said. I have to go do that right now.”
Podcast 8: Sales Influence Podcast
And then there is the Sales Influence podcast with Victor Antonio. Now I love this podcast because it’s short, it’s brief, and didactic in its approach. Here are five things you can do today. The next day it’s, here are three things you can do today.
It’s short, it’s sweet and they are actionable tips that I can take immediately, go back to my office, and say, “Guys, here’s what we’re working on today.” So, I love this podcast because it’s about the psychology of why people buy.
Right now during a pandemic, when people are not buying, it is so important to understand the nuances of why people buy.
My Last Two Podcasts are Not Business Related
And then my last two podcasts on this list are not business-related so much as they are YouTube related. I was very scared when I started the YouTube show. But the reason I went down that alley is that video marketing is not going away.
So, if you have not jumped into video marketing and YouTube, here are two podcasts that can totally revolutionize your business.
Podcast 9: Comments Over Coffee
One is Comments Over Coffee with Nick Neiman, who has grown this massive YouTube show and it has all different kinds of things about does the background of your YouTube show matter?
Or what about the header or the title of your YouTube show, does that matter? Does it matter if you have old shows that haven’t done very well? Should you leave them up or should you take them down? What kind of keywords should you use to attract the biggest amount of audience for your YouTube show?
These are the basics of growing video marketing. Super important and I love the concept that he’s so down to earth and he shares this really in-depth information.
And then he kind of hits it from both angles, tells you, “Here’s what you do if you go down this route, here’s what happens if you don’t.” And then you can sit there and kind of go, “Oh, I’m going down this road, because that makes a lot of sense.”
Podcast 10: Tube Buddy Express
Secondly, is Tube Buddy Express with Dusty Porter. And even though it’s also about YouTube it hits it from a very different angle.
Now, I’m a big fan of Tube Buddy which is a pillowcase that goes over the YouTube studio creator hub.
So, this is a little sleeve that goes over the top has a whole bunch of bells and whistles from keyword analytics to research. It shows a breakdown of your comments, a breakdown of your viewers and, a breakdown of the watch time. There’s a whole bunch of stuff that’s packed into this piece of software that helps you do your YouTube job better.
We Use Tube Buddy for Our YouTube Channel
Now, we use Tube Buddy for our YouTube channel, but the rules, the keywords, the analytics, the research, everything that we’ve done for the YouTube show, we also do it for our podcast and our blog.
So, if you have a blog, if you are growing your media on different platforms, the elements that you will learn from Tube Buddy are profound when you start using them to grow your business in other areas. Now, one of the things I can’t get away from a big, big, focus for 2020 is the search engine optimization. Because if people cannot find you, they cannot hire you.
And so, I want to encourage you if nothing else, to dig deep in and learn the elements of online marketing for your small business. And it is the reason why in 2020, the whole focus of all the podcasts that we done, and my favorite podcasts are based around the elements of staying in business and pivoting through these trying times.
