Questions 6 Spacer Savvy Cleaner
How do you keep your uniforms looking so vibrant?

That’s a great question and we’re going to talk about that today.

Hi there, I’m Angela Brown and this is Ask a House Cleaner. This is a show where you get to ask a house cleaning question and I get to help you find an answer. Now the answer to that question is OxiClean.

This is not a paid sponsorship, this is not a paid ad. This is the product that I use to keep my uniforms looking new all the time.

OxiClean Product Review for House Cleaners

As a house cleaner, our image is paramount to the success of our job. We want to show up at customers houses every day looking spectacular. That’s the image that they’re going to share with their neighbors when they recommend and refer our cleaning service to their neighbors.

And every day you’re going to come home from work full of cobwebs, dust, dog hair, and cat fur and body odor and underarm stains. And before you can go clean your next house you have to recycle and renew your cleaning uniform. You can do that with OxiClean.

OxiClean Product Review – Juice Test

OxiClean Product Review - Juice TestIf you’re reading this you may want to watch the video for the full effect. We purchased six white cotton towels and laid them on the counter next to some household juices that stain.

We marked under each towel with masking tape and labeled each towel with a corresponding number so we can track it.

The juices are spinach smoothie, cranberry juice. Pomegranate Juice, Blueberry Juice, Pumpkin cappuccino, and Lipton Tea. These drinks are common in my day and can stain any uniform.

Now for the sake of this particular exercise, we’re going to mix the OxiClean with some hot water from the Keurig machine.

As I pour these different juices on the cloths on the granite countertop I’m freaking out because I’m afraid I’m going to stain the granite.

But we have to do it to create some stains so that we can see how well they wash out.

The company that manufactures OxiClean is Church and Dwight. And that is the same company that owns and manufactures Arm and Hammer baking soda. So they’ve got the technology and the science behind them.

SDS Hazards Warning Savvy Cleaner SpacerHazards Identification

What they want you to know about the hazards are is that there is oral or acute toxicity. This means it’s harmful if swallowed. And that’s common sense because we’re talking about a laundry soap here. And we don’t eat or drink laundry soap.

The other thing is that if you get it in your eyes, that’s bad. And it’s harmful to aquatic life. So, we do not want to use the laundry soap to wash out our fish tanks or release this intothe environment.

SDS Composition Ingredients Savvy Cleaner Spacer

Composition – Ingredients

Alright, what it’s made of, it’s made of Disodium Carbonate, which is also known as soda or soda crystals.

It’s made of Sodium Percarbonate. This is a highly concentrated powder that releases hydrogen peroxide and is best when mixed with hot water.

Then also it is Alcohol Ethoxylate. This is a major class of non-ionic surfactants. They are widely used in laundry detergents, and then to a lesser degree, in household cleaners.

SDS First Aid Savvy Cleaner SpacerFirst Aid Measures

The first aid measures, if you inhale it, you want to go to open air and ventilate the area. If you get it on your skin, you want to remove your contaminated clothing to prevent future irritation. Or if you get it in your eyes, you want to rinse with water. If you should ingest it, you want to rinse your mouth and don’t induce vomiting.

SDS Fire Safety Savvy Cleaner SpacerFire Safety

OxiClean is not considered flammable but it might burn at high temperatures. OxiClean is not explosive.

SDS Accidental Release Spills Savvy Cleaner SpacerAccidental Release

Obviously, we don’t want humidity to get in there and then you want to store it in a cool, dry place and away from direct sunlight.

OxiClean Product Review - Labeling Spray Bottle with OxiCleanNow for those of you that are not watching the video, we are creating a spray bottle of OxiClean. We’ve used one scoop full of OxiClean, mixed with hot water, and now we’re labeling the spray bottle.

Should you mix your own OxiClean, you always want to label the bottle so that you know what’s in it. And you want to use the spray immediately. Because the results will be most powerful right after mixing.

OxiClean Product Review – Includes Grease on My Garage Floor

OxiClean Product Review - Spraying Grease on Garage floor with OxiCleanAlright, now we’re looking at my garage floor. I found some grease stains on my garage floor. They could be oil stains. Who knows what they are? But we’re spraying the OxiClean on there and we’re going to leave it for one hour.

After one hour, we came back to mop the floor and we found amazing results.

Now OxiClean is not designed for garage floors. But there are 101 different uses for removing stains. And in this case, it did a pretty good job.

OxiClean Product Review – Checking the Stained Towels

OxiClean Product Review - Soaked Towels with No StainsAlright, now we’re back in the kitchen and we’re picking up all the different stained towels that we created earlier with all the juices.

We’re going to soak them in water for 24 hours. And you’ll notice its icky water.

Now, after 24 hours we matched up the towels with the juices so that we could see results just from soaking.

We haven’t washed anything in the washing machine yet. From first glance, it looks like OxiClean removed all the stains.

Now we’re already down to the blueberry juice and so far, every towel we’ve looked at is almost completely white.

The towels are a bit yellowish because they haven’t gone through the wash yet. But all the visible colored stains, even the pumpkin cappuccino, and the iced tea are gone. Now we’ve put these through a load of laundry and we’re going to check to see, they all look pretty clean.

We’ve left the tags on the corner of each of the towels so we’ll be able to match them up once again once they come out of the dryer.

OxiClean Removed All Traces of Colored Stains

If you look now that they’ve been out of the dryer, there’s not a trace of any spinach smoothie. You don’t see any cranberry juice. There’s not a trace of pomegranate juice. These towels look brand spanking new even though we’ve stained them and now we’ve washed them.

Even the blueberry stains came out. This is so amazing.

Can you imagine what this might do for a uniform or any other household product, baby clothes, household clothes with grass stains? We got out the pumpkin cappuccino, even the iced tea came out. It’s amazing.

OxiClean is Perfect for House Cleaning Uniforms

OxiClean Product Review - Pinning Uniform Shirts to Mark StainsAlright, now we’re going to try it with the uniforms because this is what this is all about. Now I’ve laid the uniforms … These are actual uniforms that I use and I’m marking down the different spots, so I’m just doing a quick check.

I’m looking for underarm stains, and ring around the collar. I’m looking for things that have splashed on the front of my uniform shirts. And I’m putting a safety pin in them. This way when they go through the washing machine, we can see the results when they come out.

Oh look, there’s an under the arm stain there. We’ll put a pin in that and then we’ll soak it for up to 24 hours when we do laundry again.

America’s #1 Versatile Stain Fighter

OxiClean Product Review - OxiClean Versatile Stain RemoverNow what’s important to realize is this is America’s number one versatile stain fighter. With over 101 ways to use it, OxiClean works in all types of washing machines. Both front load and top load, and you can use it as regular laundry soap. It is, in fact, chlorine free.

Oh look, there’s a big stain right there on the front. We’re going to put a pin in that. Again, we’re going to check for underarm stains and ring around the collar. Oh, this one does have underarm stains. Now I normally don’t put a pin in these when I wash these, this is just for the illustration of this example.

OxiClean is great about getting out most stains that you will get on your house cleaning uniforms.

Now if you get bleach on your uniform, you’ve actually changed the color of your uniform. And it won’t get out bleach stains. But it will get out pretty much every other stain that has coloring in it.

Soaking Is All You Need – No Pre-Treating Necessary

OxiClean Product Review - Blue Shirts in Icky WaterYou don’t have to spray anything before soaking. You don’t have to rub or scrub anything out. Just take your cleaning uniforms and put them inside a bucket of the solution with OxiClean.

You can leave them from one to six hours but I usually just do 24 hours because I do a wash every day. And there is no harm to soaking clothes for 24 hours. So when I throw the stuff into soak, I just leave it, I come back the next day and that’s when I do the next load of wash.

Next, I hang up the uniforms to dry.

Now because my uniforms are microfiber shirts, I don’t throw them in the dryer. Because I don’t want to change the quality of the shirt.

They wick away sweat and at high temperatures of the dryer, it breaks down the fabric.

Let’s Check The Final Results From The Dried Uniforms

OxiClean Product Review - Uniforms DryingAlright, now they’ve dried and I’ve laid them back on the counter. And we’re going to go back through and do a double check to see if every stain came out.

Look at that, there’s not a stain in sight. Not on the front, not on the back. Again, these are non-treated with anything beyond the soak. There’s no ring around the collar. There are no stains on the collar. It’s as good as brand new. Next shirt, not a stain. Every single thing came out. Because we have the safety pins in there, we can see exactly where we marked the shirts. Every single stain is gone. That big stain on the front, gone. Completely gone.
