Hey there, I’m Angela Brown, and this is Ask a House Cleaner. This is a show where you get to ask a house cleaning question, and I get to help you find an answer. You can find this and 400 other answered questions in this series on our YouTube channel.

Should My Business Be Doing Facebook Lives?

Facebook Lives, Woman Working on Computer“Should my house cleaning business be doing Facebook Lives?” Yes, you should. Many cleaning business owners have never done Facebook Lives, and it may be because they are learning technology piece by piece.

When you make a YouTube show it’s prerecorded. So, everything is set up, the lighting, the cameras, all that stuff. You stand in a certain place, and then record a show. And then, there are editors that come in and they tweak the show and they fix the audio and the visuals. They add pictures in, and B roll, which are little video clips that have been shot at another time to help illustrate the story.

So, there’s a lot of work that goes into a YouTube show, but Facebook Live is very different, and it’s very scary.

You Can Learn How Facebook Live Works

Facebook Lives, Woman Working on Her ComputerSo, during the coronavirus scare, while you are quarantined and you’re at home.  You could decide to learn how Facebook Live works.  There has never been a better time to educate yourself.

So you can watch videos on YouTube on how to do a Facebook Live. Since those videos were created, the platform has changed. So, you might say “Oh no, this is scary for me.”  It may show you a button to click on that your computer might not have.

Also, there might be some other problems you could face like your computer not recognizing your camera.  This might happen if you’ve been doing some Zoom calls where you have your headset on and you are talking to someone else. But the camera and the audio was set up differently. And that’s why the computer might not recognize your camera.

It could take you some time to try to figure out how to do the Facebook Live. But once you’ve got through that hurdle and figured out the basics of it, you will be able to go live and do your first Facebook Live.  You may screw up a little bit. And make some mistakes.  However, you will have fun and be proud of yourself because you learned something new.

Anyone can do Facebook Lives

Facebook Lives, Excited Couple Loooking at ComputerWhile you’re at home during the coronavirus scare, as business owners, you have the opportunity to do Facebook Lives. You all have the chance to learn something new. It’s a new skill. It’s scary.

But once you do it, you will never have that initial fear of never having done it again. Because once you’ve done it, you’ve crossed that threshold. So, the next day, like riding a horse and you fall off, you got back on again the next day and you’re like, “That’s it. I’m going to do another Facebook Live.” So, the next day you will do your second Facebook Live, and find it wasn’t as hard as it was the first day.

And then, the third day it was even easier. And then, the fourth day it was even easier than that. You’ll start to get in the groove, and be like, “Okay, this is how this works.” It’s not going away and it’s been around for a very long time, and lots of people don’t use it because they’re scared.

What’s the Worst That Could Happen

Facebook Lives, Scared Man on ComputerYou may be scared and ask “What if I screw up? What if I screw up and I say something that’s stupid? I’m live.”  Well, the reality is you will say some stupid stuff, and the reality is nothing bad happened to you.

Your family and friends will say, “Go! You can do this.” And they will be very supportive because they know you were trying something outside your comfort zone. Right now you have an opportunity to share how your business works.

You have a chance to explain what you’re doing during this time to grow and expand and to learn more about your business. To become more computer savvy, more business savvy, and more customer savvy. So when you re-enter the workforce after this ban, you will be much more educated. And you will have much more confidence, and you will be in front of people now who know, like, and trust you.

Facebook Live Can Get You Clients

Facebook Lives, House CleanerBecause if they only see your posts and they never see your face, people don’t connect with you as well. But if there’s somebody in your area that’s thinking about hiring you, and they stumble on your Facebook Live. Then that might be the thing they need to say, “Hey, I should give them a call and have them come be my cleaning service. Because I’ve been watching these Facebook Lives. It looks like they know what they’re talking about.”

So, this is a perfect opportunity and it’s free. It doesn’t cost you any money to do a Facebook Live.

Facebook Lives are Part of Your Business Image

A couple of things you need to think about. Don’t roll out of bed and doFacebook Lives, Woman Fixing Her Hair a Facebook Live.  This is still a part of your business brand. So, get showered and if you wear a house cleaning uniform, put it on.

As you’re explaining what you’re doing and what’s happening in your business this person is the same person that’s coming to a client’s house. If you look like you rolled out of bed, they’re going to say, “They can’t take care of themselves, how can they come to take care of me in the house?”

So, they’re looking for clues, and this is a chance for you to paint those clues. So, do take a shower, put your makeup on, do your hair, wear your uniform, and actually prepare as if this was an ad that was going on TV.  It’s a Facebook Live. But the thing is it can get shared, so give it your best go, but right now is the time for you to learn it.0 Savvy Cleaner Spacer Savvy Cleaner
